Roundatable Minutes: DUI Task Force, MADD, & Guests
Both groups state purpose and mission statements and intent to work together and in the sharing of common goals.
MADD is pursuing growth to gain paid staff.
DUI Task force presents 2006-2007 BAC and DUI statistics.
MIP victim impact panel instructor stated that have been successful and well attended by offenders.
Melissa Kelly, director of the Pre-Release Center, offered services of center residents in the form of labor and volunteer services.
MSU presented “Site of Last Drink” Summary Report based on 2004-2006 survey of DUI offenders.
Bite of Bozeman and Music on Main events are discussed as areas of concern.  There are difficulties in patrolling and maintaining order when excessive abuse of alcohol is undertaken at general family oriented events.
Mandatory BAC communication on tickets, etc. is addressed.  BAC monitoring is important for ACT classes to show likely level of alcohol involvement for a particular offender.  Suggestion is made that a higher superiors or judicial party would need to ask enforcement officers to include that information on citations.  Sometimes that information is considered potentially prejudicial. Additional suggestion that the ticket be changed as it is unclear now.
Grant for Visual Trial (software to assist prosecution in visual presentation of evidence at DUI trial) has been submitted.
Discussion on Interlock devices was raised.  Effectiveness and availability was discussed.  Research will be conducted in regards to effectiveness of installation and availability of installation centers.
